In order to uninstall the Tobit InfoCenter completely, including all the programm files, please follow these steps: - Start the uninstall-routine of the Tobit InfoCenter via »Start -> Programs -> Tobit InfoCenter -> Uninstall Tobit InfoCenter«.
- Afterwards, look for the following files via the button »Start -> Find...« in the »WINNT« resp. »WINDOWS« directory. They have to be deleted if found.
- DAVID*.*
- DV*.*
- TOBIT*.*
- FW*.*
- FAXWARE*.*
Important: As of Microsoft Windows 2000, DVD*.* files may be found as well, e.g. DVDPLAY.EXE. These files must not be deleted! - Finally, restart the workstation.
- Prior to a new installation, please check the following:
- Novell Client
If your DvISE installation is on a Novell NetWare Server, make sure, that these versions of the Novell Client are installed:- Microsoft Windows 9x/ME => at least Version 3.30
- Microsoft Windows NT/2000 => at least Version 4.80
- Microsoft Windows XP => at least Version 4.83
It is not recommended to use the Microsoft Clients, because e.g. the time is not automatically synchronized, which is important for the automatic update of the Tobit InfoCenter. - Mapping of hard drives
You have to differentiate between two situations:- Users without local power user permissions
If it is not desired, that the users have local power user permission on their workstation, the usage of static mapping of hard drives does not make sense. This means, that the administrator must install the Tobit InfoCenter at the workstation from the network environment. At the first start of the Tobit InfoCenter by the user, the dynamic drive letter would be Z:. - User with local power user permission
In this case, a uniform and static mapping of hard drives is very much recommended to ensure a stable client-/server connection. Being the administrator, one creates a batch-file to establish a static hard drive mapping with the command »NET USE M: \\SERVERNAME\DAVID«. This file is deposed in the system share »Netlogon«. For example, on a Microsoft Windows 2000 domain controller, this would be the folder »WINNT\ SYSVOL\ SYSVOL\ Domain\ SCRIPTS«. In the user management, the name of the batch-file is entered as the login-script. This way, it is ensured, that the hard drive mapping takes place automatically for all users. Hard drive mappings have to be done manually by the administrator on Windows 9X/ME clients. The installation of the Tobit InfoCenter is independently carried out by the user, when going to the »CLIENTS« directory on the mapped drive letter and executing the SETUP.EXE.
