NWCALLS/NWIPXSPX The file NWCALLS.DLL from the 23.09.1999 (actual NetWare Client) or from the 20.09.1996 (previous versions) must be located in the Windows Root directory. The file NWIPXSPX.DLL must be located in the »SYSTEM32« directory. Here you have to check, whether the files exist more than once and might be loaded from another directory. There often occur problems, if you have different versions in different directories. Make sure, that the NWIPXSPX.DLL (7056 Bytes) file belongs to the Novell Client (IntraNetware Client, ca. 7 kB). Furthermore there can occur problems, if the NetWare Requester has been installed in a different language as the Windows NT computer. In that case a proper IPX connection cannot be guaranteed. IP.INI In the client directory (»DAVID\CLIENTS\WINDOWS«) on the David Server an IP.INI is located, where the IP address of the server is entered during the installation. If this does not correspond to the one of the server, it may come to a delayed start of the client and it may lead to problems within the running operation of the client. This INI file is associated with the DVTCPIP.DLL under Point 3. DVTCPIP.DLL In a pure IPX/SPX net the DVTCPIP.DLL in the directory of the Tobit InfoCenter programme group might lead to a delayed client start, because the Tobit InfoCenter first tries to establish a connection over the IP protocol. You might have to rename this DLL file.Prefered Protocol In the Client32 you can define the "Prefered Protocol". This is important, if e.g. you want to establish an IPX/SPX connection instead of IP. The same happens reversed. If there should occur problems starting the David Client (delayed Client Start) using IP, you should check, whether a ping is faultlessly possible on the IP address of the server. Ex release 4.50 of Client32 from Novell you can display a list of the actual connections under »Features« within the taskbar. Here it can be read, which protocol (»Trans Type«) is used for the existing connection to a server. This is relevant for the configuration of the David Client, insofar that IP as well as IPX/SPX are supported in the actual version. But with an IP connection the configuration of the TCP/IP protocol as well as on the server so as on the workstations have to be effected correctly, because e.g. a DNS request during start and operation of the clients may delay the time for the connection establishment. If that is the case, you should reduce the TCP/IP configuration on the workstation on a pure IP and Subnet Mask entry. Furthermore you have to effect the entries into the Host tables correctly. In the Novell Client configuration: file caching= off file commind= on under Win 95/98: closebehindtix = 0 or off Delayrights = 0 or off If the Novell server does not own an IP address, the "Preferred Network Protocol" must be set under »Protocol Preferences« on "IPX".
