If you want to copy data from the Tobit Archive System out of an existing installation into another existing installation you cannot effect this through a direct copy operation because the corresponding Archive .DIR (database file of the archive structure) and ARCHIVE.DAT (database file of the archive entries) files contain the particular Server and Directory name as well as the User-ID. The Tobit Archive Packer creates a packed EXE-File of the Tobit Archive System (TAS ). The files INSTLD32.EXE and MKINST32.EXE belong to the Archive Packer, which you can find within the DvISE Server directory »DAVID\UTIL\WINDOWS\MKARC«. To pack an archive act as follows. - Start the prgramme MKINST.EXE either out of the above mentioned directory,
- or copy the files into any directory of your local hard disk.
- Underneath of »Files/Source« within the menu item »Global« the source of the archive, which shall be packed, should be indicated with the DOS- directory name.
- You can now give any name to the archive into the field »Archive Name « within the menu item »Options«.
Through the menu items »Source Directory« and »Destination File« you can define which archive where to pack. Over the other switches »Delete Source«, »Keep Forwarder« and »Indicate as HTML-Document« you can activate further functions. After you made all specifications, start the operation by selecting the »Pack« button. The entire structure, located underneath of the chosen archive, will be packed now.The originated file with the Extension EXE is self extracting. This file can be accessed by simple double clicking within the Explorer. Under options you can now indicate a different destintation directory afterwards. Now this can be integrated into an existing David / FaxWare Installation. The database entries will be adjusted automatically during unpacking. This is possible ex Version 5.x, because within older versions the TAS was not available in its current form. Data of Versions 3 and 4 cannot be assumed using MKINST. |
