Antwort
David provides an integrated SMS-provider-interface, which enables the inexpensive sending of SMS messages without the need for additional hardware or existing mobile phone contracts. By using this interface, SMS jobs are sent as eMail to a provider via the SMTP Services of David. The provider will then ensure the final sending via the GSM network.

Configuration
A prerequisite for using the SMS-provider-interface is an existing connection to the Internet (dedicated line or dial-up connection). In addition to this, certain settings in the David system configuration as well as in the configuration of David PostMan are also required. You must therefore ensure that your David configuration complies with the following specified requirements and settings.

David PostMan
The David PostMan must be started and correctly configured. In particular, the following points should be checked:

  • The communication port used by the David PostMan must be set up for the »SMS Broadcast« service. In David system configuration, go to the menu item »System -> Ports -> David PostMan -> Services« and activate the option »SMS Broadcast«.
  • In the PostMan databases, you must ensure that the item »Blacklist (SPAM-Filter)« does not have an entry in which the field »eMail Address« is empty. This will ensure that feedback on the sending status can be correctly received from the provider.
David system configuration
In the David Administrator or in the David Service Layer in the server, adjust the settings as described below:
  • Under the menu item »Backline Features > Common« activate the option »Force SMS Provider«. Thereafter, all SMS jobs will be transferred to the provider via the David PostMan and the provider will subsequently carry out the sending.

    Note
If the option »Force SMS Provider« is deactivated, sending via the provider can be activated for single jobs by specifying the David command @@PROVIDER in the message text.

  • Youmust ensure that the domain, which is entered in the David system configuration under »Common -> Domain« can be accessed externally. This is necessary in order to receive feedback from the provider about the send status.
  • Open the user configuration and for each David User, check whether there is a correct entry in the »SMS« field under »User Data«. The number entered here is automatically used as sender identification for all SMS messages which are sent by the corresponding user. The sender number can also be specified directly in the message text by means of the David command @@FROM.
