First, connect the utilized hardware (mobile phone or GSM radio modem) to the DvISE server. To do so please follow the instructions in the manual of the corresponding device. If necessary, the hardware could also be connected to another computer. Keep the following information ready during the installation process of the port. This is required for the use of the port and for the sending and receiving of SMS messages:
- GSM number of the GSM chipcard
- COM port number
- Phone number of the service center of your GSM provider
- PIN code of the SIM card
Execute the file SETUP.EXE from the directory »DAVID\INSTALL« on the DvISE server to start the port installation routine. This routine will guide you through the rest of the installation process afterwards. Basic Configuration After installation of the port you have to take up the basic configuration. Thus, go to the DvISE Administrator (Windows) resp. Service Layer NLM (NetWare) below the corresponding port ( »Configuration -> Ports -> Port XXX«). There you have the following options:
- Description
Enter a name for the port. - Operating mode
Select an operating mode from the list. The options »Fax identifier (CSID)«, »Prefix for outgoing line« and »Check remote CSID« can be activated, but they have no effect in this case. - Default Service Center
Enter the phone number of your service center. - GSM Pin
Enter the GSM PIN number of the chip card. - Max. Tx Parts
Here you may activate the splitting function. That way a message with more than 160 characters is split into and send as several messages with the maximum of 160 characters. The recipient then receives several messages. Enter the maximum number of message parts in which the original text is supposed to be split. - Max. Compression
It is possible to have a SMS message compress in a special process. This enables you to send messages which exceed the allowed number of 160 characters. The possible settings are: »None«: no compression, only double spaces will be deleted»Level 1«: double characters and spaces will be deleted»Level2«: double characters, double spaces and vowels will be deleted»Level 3«: all spaces, double characters, vowels and initial letters will be deleted - Min. Signallevel
Below »Min. Signallevel« values between 0 and 31 may be entered as the least valid for the receiving field intensity. These settings correspond to the following dBm-values: »0«: maximum of 113 dBm or less »1«: maximum of 111 dBm or less (default setting) »2-30«: maximum of 109 dBm (2) to maximally 53 dBm (30) or less »31«: minimum of 51 dBm or more
- Headline/Tailline
You may enter a text for head- and taillines in these fields which are sent with each outgoing SMS. Please consider that this text is included in the maximum size of 160 characters per SMS message. - Monitor Information
Define if the parameters of the distant station are to be displayed in the Port Monitor (see DvISE Administrator »Monitor -> Ports -> Portxxx«) during a connection. - COM Port
Define the COM port to which the radio modem is connected to. - Start Init String/Init String/Stop String
Here you may enter parameters for the hardware configuration, so-called initialization strings. Default settings were predefined which usually do not need to be changed. - GSM Net
If the default service center number of a certain net is not available, you may enter the corresponding number of another service center here. Depending on your provider or the SIM card you possibly need to enter the phone number of the service center for the receiving stations of certain nets. The parameters for such an entry can be acquired from your GSM provider. - Replacements
With this list, it is possible to replace specific terms with other passages before sending. You can use this function to achieve a compression by automatically replacing specific words with tokens (e.g. »respectively« by »resp«). - Routing prefix
With the content of this field you can overwrite the dial suffix being transferred via this port to the routing list (DvISE Administrator below »Database -> Routing«). For example, it is possible to transfer the number of the receiving port to the routing list. If the field is blank, the dial suffix will remain the same. If you specify the »%s« character string, the dial suffix will be transferred in addition to the entered character string. - Distribute to
Please enter a recipient to whom the messages received via this port are to be assigned. If you enter a recipient, this entry will have priority. In this case entries in the routing list will be ignored (DvISE Administrator below »Database -> Routing«). - TLD
.INI file... The configuration file of the port TLD.INI, which is listed in the corresponding directory (DAVID\TLD\PORTS\PORT XXX), can be opened via this button. All previous described settings can also be entered manually to this file. The following setting can only be adjusted manually in this file. When sending an SMS message, the information from the field »User - - eMail« is included in the message. This information has to be considered regarding the 160 characters per SMS message. To prevent the insertion of this information you may set the TLD.INI entry »INSERTFROM« to »False«. A re-start of the port is necessary after the changes have been made. Please consider the following KnowledgeBase article: |
