Antwort
If the DvISE Service Layers hangs during the automatic purge process at night, then this might be caused by a defective Archive.DAT or ARCHIVE.DIR file.

To repair a defective ARCHIVE.DAT proceed as follows:

  1. Within the Tobit InfoCenter move the corresponding entries from this Archive to a temporary created Archive.
  2. Now lauch the Windows Explorer and switch to the defective directory. You can retrieve the path of the Archive, by opening the "Archive-Properties -> Options". Then click on the blue folder symbol and the real path will be displayed.
  3. Thereafter you should move all files (with exception of ARCHIVE.DIR, ARCHIVE.INI, ACCESS.INI, ARCHIVE.URT and ARCHIVE.ADD) from here to a temporary directory.
  4. Now move alle messages within the Tobit InfoCenter from the temporary Archive to the orginal Archive.

To repair a defective ARCHIVE.DIR proceed as follows:

In case of a defective ARCHIVE.DIR, first try to locate the ARCHIVE.DIR by running the purging process manually as described in KnowledgeBase Article Q-106.243.

Rename the ARCHIVE.DIR of the last Archive which has been displayed during the purging process of the DvISE Service Layer to for example "archive.dir.bak". Then again start the purging process, and check if it completes without Abending the Server. This procedure must be repeated untill the purging process can be executed without any problems.

The defective ARCHIVE.DIR can be recreated as described in KnowledgeBase Article Q-101.313.
