Requirements
The Tobit Rendering Agent is a useful tool analyzing fax orders that have been created via an application, for eventual documents and converting them automatically in fax files. Fax graphics created this way are then sent in the form of further pages of the current fax order. The Tobit Rendering Agent is centrally installed on any Microsoft Windows Computer within the network.Basically the following operating systems are supported:
  • Microsoft Windows 2003
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Server
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional
  • Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Server
  • Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Workstation
  • Microsoft Windows XP
  • Microsoft Windows 98
  • Microsoft Windows Me
To be able to apply the Rendering Agent, you firstly have to install the Fax-Image printer on this server. Therefore activate on this computer the Setup file, to be found on the DvISE server below the following path:

»David\CLIENTS\WINDOWS\FAXIMG«

For the installation of the Rendering Agent execute the setup file, to be found on the David CD below the following path:

»CD-1\Gateways\Dv4Exchg\2000\RENDERER«

Locally installing the Tobit Rendering Agent on each workstation is not required. Accordingly converting the attachments into the fax format is exclusively managed on that computer on which the Tobit Rendering Agent is installed.

Apart from the Tobit Rendering Agent all applications, under which the file attachments are to be created, need to be installed on this computer. If e.g. a fax order, to which a Word document or an Excel table are attached, is to be sent, the Tobit Rendering Agent can only convert the attachments into the corresponding fax files, if Word and Excel are installed on this computer.

Proceeding
To send any kind of document as a fax, you need to create a control file and file it with the document on the DvISE server in the
»DAVID\APPS\FAXWARE\CONVERT\RASTER\IN«
directory. The content of this control file as text file is as follows:

You have to consider hereby, that the file name is in 8.3 format and HTML documents cannot be rendered. The DvISE command "fax" defines the message type, with the "nummer" command you provide the recipients number. The DvISE command "RENDERFILE" is very important here, showing the DvIsE Rendering Agent the path to the document. Here the UNC path to the document needs to be defined. The attribute ",del" says that after conversion, the document is to be deleted.

After having adjusted the control file, modify the file ending to "Fax", like e.g. "dok.fax", whereby the Rending Agent reads out the control file, prints out the document via the Fax-Image printer and transmitts it to the DvISE in the »DAVID\APPS\FAXWARE\OUT\API« directory.

Attention
Fax orders including attachments, for which no corresponding applications on the computer of the Tobit Rendering Agent do exist, cannot be sent.

Please consider to firstly install the Fax-Image printer and then the Rendering Agent. If this is not the case, install both components anew.
