| The DvISE Mail Access Server is the software module within David, which allows access on the DvISE Archives with a current eMail Client. This is signified as Mail Access. Configuration at Windows NT/2000/XP/2003: In the DvISE Administrator at »Mail Access Server > System« you can effect the following adjustments: Field »Monitor Information« Within the scope of normal usage of the Mail Access Server it is absolutely sufficient, if you set the adjustments on »Normal«. In case of a problem, it allows you (Adjustment »Complete«) to get displayed a detailed presentation of the internal operations. Field »Connections« Here you can define, how many users at most could access with an external POP3 or IMAP Client over the DvISE Mail Access Server. If the maximum number of users has been reached, the next receives an error message in his eMail client. Field »Graphic Format« This selection refers to the fax display as eMail attachment, which from Tobits sight, is an external eMail Client. Field »Supported Protocols« This selection field allows provision of the eMail Server Protocols (POP3 and/or IMAP4), which are supported by the Mail Access Server for the access on the DvISE Archives over an eMail Client. Field »TLS Usage« The selection field must be adjusted, if a protection of the eMail transfer is intended. In opposition to PGP a server based coding takes place, consequently the Client Server communication stays uncoded. Without an according TLS Certificate you cannot use this point! You will receive further information, if you access the online help (Key F1) in the programme TLSCERT.EXE (»DAVID\UTILS\WINDOWS\TLSCERT«). Field »Domain to be added to incomplete mail address« In this field you have to enter the domain, which should be attached to the eMail address of a received eMail. Other Adjustments Moreover you c an define by setting a check mark at »If possible, send eMails as HTML«, whether eMails should be forwarded directly as HTML. Now you can effect the configuration at »Mail Access Server > Alias List«: In this menu item you can define the archives, you want to scan over a tobit external eMail Client. At first you do not find any entries there. To create a new entry please click on the button »New«. Field »Login Alias« It does not matter if you want to allow an IMAP or POP3 scan, here you have to enter an Alias name. This Alias name corresponds to the entered name for the Remote Access for the Archive which should be scanned. Concrete this means, first you: - Execute in the Tobit InfoCenter a right click on »ARCHIVE/User/"User Name"« and select »Propertiers«.
- Change to the index card »Access« and activate the Remote Access through setting a check mark there.
- Now enter the desired Alias name at »User Name«. This name has to be identic with the Alias name in the Mail Access Server!
- Enter the desired password and click on »OK«.
- Change into the sub archives »Incoming« and »Outgoing« and activate the Remote Access, but without assigning a name and password!
Field »Archive« You can select the appropriate archive with the button »Archive Selection«. But it is important, to pay attention on the following differentiation:- At A POP Scan:
Choose the archive »ARCHIVE/USER/"User Name"/Incoming«. The user name naturally refers to the user, for which you activated the Remote Access in the forefront. After the selection click on »OK«. - At A IMAP Scan:
Choose the archive »ARCHIVE/USER/"User Name"«. The user name naturally refers to the user, for which you activated the Remote Access in the forefront. After the selection click on »OK«. Other Options: Further you can define through making a check mark, whether Tracking Information should be transferred, whether the archive entry should be deleted after access and whether attachments should be transferred. Adjustments In The Mail Client: With two examples, one for Microsoft Outlook Express and one for the Netscape Messenger, we would like to explain to you, which adjustments have to be made e.g. for a POP scan. Netscape-Messenger In the menu "Edit/Adjustments" you have to enter the user name at "Mail" and "For/Mailserver". This name matches the Alias name, how it had been defined in the forefront in your alias list. The password matches the one, which had been indicated in the Remote Access. As server for a (POP3) and for outgoing (SMTP) mails you have to indicate the IP address of the David server. Microsoft Outlook Express First you have to add a new eMail entry at »Extras / Accounts«. Enter the user name and the alias name accordinng to the following instructions and as password, the one you declared in the Remote Access. As Server for a (POP3) and outgoing (SMTP) mails you have to enter the IP address of the David Server. Now you can also insert other eMail clients via the DvISE Mail Access Server. But keep in mind, that you do not have access on the Tobit Archive System , that is only possible through the Tobit InfoCenter. |
