Uninstall/Reinstall the Tobit InfoCenter XP/PC
For a complete uninstallation including purging of all programme files and registry entries act as follows:
  1. Through »Start -> Programmes -> Tobit InfoCenter -> Uninstall Tobit InfoCenter« you can start the uninstall routine for the Tobit InfoCenter XP.
    The Tobit InfoCenter PC can be uninstalled or adjusted through »Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Software -> change or remove programmes«.

  2. Afterwards search for the following programme files via the button »Start -> Search...« within the »WINNT« resp. »WINDOWS« directory, if they exist, go ahead and remove them.
    • DAVID*.*
    • DV*.*
    • TOBIT*.*
    • FW*.*
    • FAXWARE*.*

    IMPORTANT:
    Ex Microsoft Windows 2000 there may even be DVD*.* files displayed, like e.g. DVDPLAY.EXE. The files must not be removed!

    If you are using Windows XP do not delete the »FWCFG.DLL« file. This file is used by the Windows Firewall.

  3. Purging of the Windows Registry
    Through »Start -> Execute« start the Windows Registry Editor via the »regedit« command.

    On a workstation that is used by more than one user (from Administrator and one user on) the subhive »Tobit« underneath of »HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software« needs to be removed if it does still exist.
    As well below »HKEY_USERS« there are some more hives like e.g.»S-1-5-21-790...\Software«. Also there delete the »Tobit« subhive.

    On a single user workstation, just delete the »Tobit« subhive below »HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Software«.

    IMPORTANT:
    Do not delete the complete »Tobit« subhive from the server, as the DvISE server would not run anymore then. On the server no purging of the registry needs to be done.

  4. Afterwards restart the workstation.

  5. Before you reinstall the software check the following points:
    1. Novell Client
      If the DvISE installation is located on a Netware server, check whether one of the following Novell client versions is installed:
      • Microsoft Windows 98/ME => from Version 3.30
      • Microsoft Windows NT/2000 => from Version 4.80
      • Microsoft Windows XP => from Version 4.83
      Using a Microsoft client would not be recommendable, as e.g. no automatic time replication can take place, which is important for the auto update behaviour of the Tobit InfoCenter XP/PC.

    2. Drive Mapping
      At this point there are two different situations to face with:
      1. Users without local power user rights
        If you desire to not allow local power user rights to the users on the workstations, a usage of a static drive mapping would not be useful.
        In this case it would mean, that the administrator would start the installation of the Tobit InfoCenter XP/PC from the workstation out of the network environment. On starting the Tobit InfoCenters XP/PC by the user the drive letter Z: would be used then dynamically.

      2. Users with local power user rights
        Here a static and consistent drive mapping would be recommendable, to assure a clean client-/server connection.

        As Administrator create a batch file, so you are able to create a static drive mapping by using the »NET USE M: \\SERVERNAME\DAVID« command. This file is stored in the system release »Netlogon«. On a Windows 2000 domain controller for example this would be the »WINNT\ SYSVOL\ SYSVOL\ Domain\ SCRIPTS« diretory.
        Within the user administration now the name of the batch file is indicated as login script, so that an automatic creation of the drive mapping for all users is assured.

        On Windows 98/ME clients the administrator needs to adjust the drive mapping manually.

        The installation of Tobit InfoCenter XP/PC can be done by the user himself, by just using the mapped drive letter and call up the SETUP.exe from the »CLIENTS« directory.
